Owo Church Attack: 40 Laid To Rest Today (Photos)

Mass funeral has been held for the worshippers who lost their lives in the attack on Owo Catholic Church some days ago. The attack took place on June 5th, and it was reported that 40 people lost their lives in the attack.

Family members, friends and well-wishers gathered on Friday morning in Mydas Resort Event Center, Owo, for the funeral mass to pay their last respects to the deceased. Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, was also at the venue, including other top personalities.

The funeral mass will be followed by mass burial of the victims. It was earlier reported that the victims will be buried at the church’s new cemetery at Emure Road, Owo, and that the authorities plan to make the place a memorial centre.

Below are the photos and names of the people who died in the attack. As could be seen, several children were also killed in the attack:

The National Security Council had said that the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) was behind the attack, and had vowed to track the killers and make them face the consequences of their actions. But so far, no one has been arrested yet in connection with the killing.

Many have taken to social media to pray for the souls of the victims to rest in peace, and have also called on the government to intensify the search for the killers.

We pray that may God grant the families of the deceased the fortitude to bear this huge loss. Please feel free to drop condolence messages for the family.
