Breaking: Chelsea Finally Succeeded in Hijacking Superstar Defender From PSG, £45m

Reports suggest Chelsea are attempting a last-minute hijack of PSG’s deal to sign Nordi Mukiele.

According to Foot Mercato, the Blues are willing to include Timo Werner in a deal, setting him up for a return to RB Leipzig.

The French international was seemingly poised for a move to the French champions, with them expected to announce the deal this week.

The 24-year-old enjoyed somewhat of a breakthrough season with the German side last season, proving his versatility by playing both right-back and centre-back.

The Blues need to improve their backline has become desperate, with the club now set to miss out on a potential deal for Jules Kounde, who has apparently agreed personal terms with Barcelona.

Foot Mercato have claimed that they have identified Mukiele as a potential option, playing off the club’s desire to add to their attack as leverage by offering Werner in a deal.

Chelsea attempt Mukiele hijack

The German, who signed for £45m two years ago, struggled to establish himself as a starter last season, as the club persisted with attempts to play around Romelu Lukaku.

This has seen him express public frustration at his game time, much to the annoyance of current manager Thomas Tuchel

After thriving there before his move to Stamford Bridge, a move back to Leipzig and the Bundesliga could be the making of his career, as he looks to fight off competition for a spot in Germany’s World Cup squad this summer.

With the signing of Raheem Sterling, minutes look set to be even harder to come by this upcoming season.

Mukiele though would be a great addition to the backline for Tuchel, with him potentially seeing Reece James as a right-centre-back option going forward if the Frenchman better suits the wide role.

He nearly doubled his total Bundesliga assist total last season, showing the attacking ability the club need to complement Ben Chilwell on the opposite side.
